Teenage Makeup Application Classes are filling up!
Hi Moms! I have done some really fun work lately and wanted to share my experiences in a blog post for you so that you can get more information and see if this is something you're interested in doing for your kids.
I love working with teenagers because they are so excited about the rest of their lives and are learning about ways to be confident and comfortable in their own skin. As a mother, I see the same twinkle in their eyes as my own daughter and it just melts my heart. They are truly a special group of people!
At this phase in their lives, teenagers are getting ready to interview for their first jobs and colleges, go on their first dates, participate in athletic and extracurricular competitions, and attend dances that they'll remember for the rest of their lives. They're doing big things and preparing for their adult life and I think that their confidence levels should be in the same place!
Lately, I have taught teens how to apply age appropriate makeup in a group setting with siblings and friends, as well as one on one for more individualized attention. They are having such a good time and light up so brightly when they look at themselves in the mirror and realize that they did such a great job with themselves. I totally focus on rules that parents set and work with any skin issues that your kids may be facing at this time.
A really great class that I taught recently was a "Shop and Learn" course. Mom and Student met me at a local department store to go shopping together. I helped her pick the perfect foundation and concealer shade as well as other skincare and beauty products that would be great for every day looks that can be more and less intense based on the student's mood and needs. We talked about daily skin care routines and the importance of drinking lots of water. After Mom purchased all the products within the Student's budget, we headed back to their home for a one on one session to learn how to use all the products together in an efficient, seamless way. I encouraged her to do most of the work, and simply demonstrated techniques each step of the way. These were our results! Didn't she do an amazing job? I am so proud of her, and her confidence is beaming through this photograph!
Here is a sibling duo that learned age appropriate makeup as well. One fit in the tween category, and the other fit in the teenager category. Both girls had gorgeous faces to begin with, but they learned how to pick colors that enhance their natural beauty without overdoing it. I had so much fun with this family!
And finally, here's another type of class offered, which is for a little bit more advanced crowd. I have some fun and allow my student to practice techniques on me (applying false lashes, blending, color matching etc) and also do an edgier look on them! She did absolutely amazing! I love encouraging creativity and enjoy playing with different colors. She was really into trendy liquid lipstick colors, heavy false lashes, and cat eyes, so we focused on those three things and here's what we came up with!
